Jeff is a lot of fun. He’s a character that I keep an eye out for when scouring new titles to add to the pull list.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes you need a comic that’s just a loveable scamp having adventures. And with Jeff, the scale of the adventures can swing wildly from a silly story with a dishwasher to battling mystical creatures with Dr Strange.
This issue is split between Thompson and Gurihiru (It’s Jeff), and Gustavo Duarte (Jeff Week). Both sections have their own distinct art, but all the stories show Jeff at his rascally best.
One of the things that I really enjoy about Jeff adventures is that a lot of them are dialogue free. If there is to be some verbal communication, a lot of the time the story will present images as shorthand for what a character is saying. It makes it very easy to dive into some Jeff adventures. Just let the art lead you through the stories.
There are plenty of guest appearances throughout the issue, but I was particularly pleased to see Moon Girl and the best Hawkeye (Kate Bishop obviously!) to be in the mix with our finned rascal!
As I said earlier, Jeff is a lot of fun. For me, he’s a character that is perfect reading material if you want a amusing read to unwind with.
Here’s hoping that Jeff Week becomes Jeff Year and that’ll we’ll have no shortage of joyful Jeff shenanigans!
